Moving the default directories in Ubuntu

Moving the default directories in Ubuntu

Given that I am using a few different computers, one thing that happens is that I start working in something in a given machine and later I move to another one.

I usually manage my projects in the Synology Drive directory, but sometimes I need files hat I download, or documents from other origins, and I have to start all the machines involved to get all the files together.

To simplify that situation, one thing I do is to move the default directories to Synology, keeping a reference to the machine that own it. The steps involve opening the file ~/.config/user-dirs.dirs, and editing the location for each file type.

Having Visual Studio code installed the command in the terminal is:

code ~/.config/user-dirs.dirs
